Three days until Halloween y’all! Carving those pumpkins calls for a smokier, earthier cocktail, and maple syrup and whiskey check those boxes. This fall classic combines the bright of the citrus with the lovely mellow of the maple syrup.
We are going to break tradition for this cocktail and choose a whiskey instead of a bourbon. Our whiskey of choice for this cocktail is High West Campfire whiskey. It is a blend of three different whiskies, a high rye (95%) whiskey from MGP, a bourbon from High West, and a single malt scotch. This whiskey hits all of the notes for us with a delicious smoke, some spice from the rye and all the baking spice goodness from the bourbon. We think it’s a match made in heaven.
Maple Leaf
2 oz High West Campfire Whiskey (or similar)
1 oz Fresh lemon Juice
½ oz Maple syrup
Dash Aromatic bitters
Lemon peel for garnish
In a cocktail shaker with ice, add all liquid ingredients and shake for at least 20 seconds or until cold. Strain into a glass with ice.
