Smoking Hot Valentine’s Day

Smoking Hot Valentine’s Day

We don’t think we need a holiday to tell those closest to us that we love them, but it is a fun holiday to develop some cocktails and add a little spice to a cold month. Our smoked Old Fashioned kit is a fun and interactive cocktail experience. It includes smoking chips, a torch, a hand crafted local cherry wood coaster, 7 Syrup, and cocktail picks to create a fantastic smoked cocktail.

We love our Make & Muddle Old Fashioned, but we also have some other smoked cocktails that are just as delicious smoked. One of those is our Smoked Tequila Old Fashioned that uses our 3 Herb Gracious Grapefruit syrup. Try it and let us know what you think!

Sage Smoked Tequila Old Fashioned

2 oz Reposado Tequila
½ oz 3 Herb Gracious Grapefruit Syrup
Lime, Lemon, or Grapefruit bitters
Dried sage leaves

Fill a rocks glass with ice water and let it chill while you build the cocktail. The cold and wet in the glass is what enables the smoke to adhere to the inside of the glass. In a mixing glass with NO ICE, add the Reposado, 3 Herb Gracious Grapefruit syrup, and the bitters. On the cherry coaster, place a few smoking chips and a few dried sage leaves. Dump out the ice water from the rocks glass, light the sage and smoking chips, and turn the glass upside down onto the coaster and leave it there so that the smoke fills the glass. While the glass is still smoking, add ice to the mixing glass and mix cocktail until very cold.

With the cardboard coaster ready, quickly lift the smoked glass and place the coaster over the top to trap the smoke. Lift the cardboard coaster and add ice to the glass and quickly replace the coaster. When you are ready to strain the cocktail into the glass, lift the coaster and pour the cocktail into the smoked glass. Garnish with dried or fresh sage leaves and enjoy!
