BH Month, Day 19 – A Total Eclipse of the Heart

Total Eclipse of the Heart

Turn around….every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you’re never coming ‘round…

We are proud Gen Xers here at Make & Muddle. 80’s music is a balm for our souls and a sure fire way for us to end up in a dance party in the living room in our pjs with kids and dogs. This cocktail was created after an afternoon searching through 80’s cocktail history and ingredients. Nostalgic for coffee liqueur and needing to use up some moonshine that may or may not have come to me in a mason jar, I started playing around and this was the result. High proof like our bangs in high school, sweet like our lip smackers lip gloss, and a little smoky like our eye makeup and Marlboros we were smoking in the parking lot after school.

Our bourbon of choice for this cocktail is a barrel proof George T Stagg, Jr. made by @BuffaloTrace (Sazerac). If you can find this bottle anywhere, pick it up. It is a fantastic pour and is a perfect sipper over a big clear ice cube.  Like most BT products now, it was a lot easier to find a few years ago than it is now. And also less expensive. It is worth the dollars if you find it now.
